An Evaluation of Equivalence of Conservative
Versus Early Interventional Revascularization for Unstable
Angina
- Randomized Evaluation of Equivalence of conservative versus
interventional strategy in patients with unstable angina pectoris
or non-Q-wave infarction (SPREE) study investigators
- Recent clinical trials have questioned the value of early
invasive diagnosis and early interventional strategy in patients
with unstable angina pectoris. They have rather favoured a
conservative approach.
- Hypothesis:
- Optimal interventional strategy combined with an
appropriate adjunctive therapy will improve the outcome in
patients with unstable angina pectoris as compared to
conservative strategy. In addition, an optimal conservative
approach with a long lasting period of plaque passivation will
significantly decrease morbidity and mortality in these
patients as compared to standard therapy.
