CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

INSTRUCTION FOR AUTHORS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE TYPING ABSTRACT

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: JUNE 15, 1997

Abstracts are selected for the programme for poster presentation on the basis of scientific merit only. If your abstract is selected for presentation, you will receive guidelines to assist you in the preparation of your presentation.Your abstract must be submitted single-spaced on the original Abstract form.

All abstracts must be submitted in English. Mail the original and three copies by June 15, 1997 at the latest to:

Your entire abstract must be contained in the space provided. Within this space type in the order listed:

  1. TITLE: Capitalize the entire title. Spell out words and do not abbreviate.
  2. NAMES: Begin on a new line. List first names followed by surnames. The person presenting the paper should have his/her name underlined. Omit degrees, titles, institutional appointments.
  3. INSTITUTION: Begin on a new line. List institute(s) where the work originated, city and country.
  4. TEXT: Begin text on a new line and indent three spaces. The text should be arranged according to the following headings:
    1. Objectives: State the main question/objective of the study/hypothesis stated.
    2. Design and Methods: Briefly describe the design of the study and how it ws conducted, indication sampling and inclusion criteria, sample size, tissue or animal models, laboratory procedures, treatment, duration of observation, etc.
    3. Results: Present the main results with an indication of variability and precision of comparisons where appropriate. Promises of data are not acceptable.
    4. Conclusions: Limit the conclusions to those that are directlly supported by the results. Implications and generalisations may be outlined briefly.
  5. OTHER INSTRUCTIONS:
    • Whenever percentages are given, the absolute number from must be included.
    • Use standard abbreviations. Abbreviations which may be unfamiliar to some readers should be defined by placing them in parenthesis after the full word appears.
    • When numbers occur as the first word in a sentence, they must be spelled out.
    • Only essential references should be included. These should be listed numerically in the text and then placed at the bottom of the text. Do not use a separate heading for references.

Please note: Facsimile transmissions or photocopies will not be accepted. Those who wish to present a paper are asked to complete the Abstract Form accompanied by the Acknowedgement and Reference Forms.

POSTER SESSION
In the middle of each morning and afternoon session and at lunch time, two and a half hours will be allocated for poster viewing.
